One of the founding members of the Three 6 Mafia group Koopsta Knicca died from a heart attack on Oct. 9 at the age of 40. Before his demise, fellow members of the group had asked their fans to pray for Koopsta Knicca who was at the time hospitalized with brain aneurysm as a result of a stroke. Koopsta Knicca joined the Three 6 Mafia during the early days of its establishment and subsequently went to be part of a splinter group from the original Three 6 Mafia that called itself Da Mafia 6ix.
Koopsta Knicca whose real name is Cooper Philips later left Da Mafia 6ix after his incarceration but rather concentrated on his individual projects and later released the popular album Da Devil’s Playground. After a short period of doing some solo gigs and mixtapes, Koopsta Knicca later reunited with the former members of Da Mafia 6ix. At the time he died, he was working on a sequel with DJ Paul in relation to his album Da Devil’s Playground. Knicca is the other member of the group Three 6 Mafia to die after the death of Lord Infamous in 2013. Surprisingly, Lord Infamous also died out of a suspected heart attack although it was not conclusively established what caused his death.
