For years Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has been working to end extreme poverty. He says the key to end extreme poverty is internet access.
His message is simple. “When communities are connected, we can lift them out of poverty,” he said. “By giving people access to the tools, knowledge and opportunities of the Internet, we can give a voice to the voiceless and power to the powerless.”
On Saturday he gave two speeches at United Nations. He has been working with the UN to provide refugee camps with internet access. As part of their plan to end extreme poverty by 2030.
This is not a new goal for Zuckerberg, in 2013 he provided 5 billion people with internet access, and hasn’t stopped since.
