Apollo 11 46th Anniversary: First Moon Landing Commemorated July 20

Wargaming has announced that Lunar Mode is back for World of Tanks: Xbox Edition for a limited period on Xbox 360 and Xbox One, celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landings, which commenced on 16th July 1969 and concluded on 24th July 1969, the landing date itself on 20th July. Less than seven hours later, astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr. became the first human beings to walk upon Earth’s closest neighbor.

Armstrong’s first step on the moon was historical and most significant in the name of science during the last century. While Armstrong and Aldrin worked on the moon, astronaut Michael Collins orbited overhead in their command module, waiting for his crew members to return. He had meant to say: “That’s one small step for “a” man; one giant leap for Mankind”.

It has been 46 years ago on Monday when man made the first historic landing on the moon.

There were three types of cover for the Apollo 11 mission, which were postmarked at different stages, and 500 covers were made for each astronaut. Pat Collins and her children attended Mass at St. Paul’s Cathedral near the Manned Spacecraft Center, and Joan Aldrin and her children attended worship service at Webster Presbyterian Church. “We came in peace for all mankind”, according to NASA.

After 21 and half hours in the lunar surface and rejoining Collins in the Command Module, they landed on the Pacific Ocean and completed the mission.
