MERS Virus Still Spreading in South Korea, Claims Death Victim Number 16


Five new cases of the MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) Virus has been observed in South Korea, raising the total number of cases to 150.

Also, South Korea’s Health Ministry declared that another victim has been added to MERS’ death toll, bringing the total number of fatalities to 16. Rightnour, 17 patients are in an unstable condition.

Five new patents whose ages range from 39 to 84 caught the virus from hospitals in cities like Seoul and Daejeon.

In a Mother Teresa like case, one of the doctors who performed CPR on a patient in Daejeon and in Samsung Medical Center in Seoul contracted the disease. More than 70 victims of the disease are from the Samsung Medical center in Seoul.

In another twist, the Samsung Medical Center had to suspend its activates after it was identified as the starting point of the deadly infection last Sunday.

A more dangerous case was an orderly who continued to stay in service after developing symptoms of MERS, possibly spreading the disease to more than 200 people, according to the hospital.

Two other hospitals have been sealed off to prevent further infections. Currently, there are more than 5,200 patients who have been quarantined in state facilities or homes because they came in contact with someone infected with the virus.
