There is nothing harder to lose than a stubborn belly fat . It may even be the most difficult part to get rid of in any weight loss routine. The love handles as we would call it are the most hated . Although we may always forget our waistline when we take a bite at those heavenly sweets or munch on a crispy fried chicken without even feeling guilty . Yet soon as they get in our body ,we can never keep them from going down the waistline , and losing belly fat is never an easy job.
Some would think that skipping meals would aid in losing those fats around the belly , yet a new study discovered that it could actually trigger abdominal weight gain. It would always be advisable to eat in moderate portions during the day.
“This does support the notion that small meals throughout the day can be helpful for weight loss, though that may not be practical for many people. But you definitely do not want to skip meals to save calories because it sets your body up for larger fluctuations in insulin and glucose and could be setting you up for more fat gain instead of fat loss.” said
Martha Belury, senior author of the study and professor of human nutrition at The Ohio State University .
The research was done using mice which showed that those that ate all their food on just one meal and abstained from food for the rest of the day had become insulin resistant in their livers. When the liver resists from the signals that it should stop producing glucose , the extra sugar in the blood is absorbed as fat. The mice were eventually put under a controlled diet and lost weight than those that had no limit to food intake.
Calories were again introduced in the body of the restricted –diet mice as they regained weight and almost caught up to controls as the research was almost completed . Yet the fat that was present in their middle , as the belly fat of a human , weighed heavier in the restricted-diet mice than the mice that were eating without any restriction.
