Latest stats: Samsung outshines Apple consumer satisfaction for smartphones

The Cupertino-based company Apple may have outperformed Samsung in terms of number of sold units during the festive season and even during the entire 2014, but surprisingly lagged behind Samsung in terms of consumer satisfaction among the handset users.

The smartphone behemoth Apple won the Christmas battle but not the hearts of the consumers. According to the recent figures from the American Consumer Satisfaction Index that whips up a survey on 70,000 respondents annually, the consumer electronics giant Samsung nosed out Apple by just two points with a decent satisfaction score of 81. This is not big lead, in fact it is just a hairline edge, but this still gives Samsung the so-called bragging rights.

On the other end Apple, is on a skid as it  absorbed a drop of at least two points since 2013. It is not clear yet where Samsung got it scores, but still a great win for Samsung, a company that was longing for redemption after getting beaten heavily by Apple especially in the high-end smartphone segment in 2014.  Several companies are cinched to pounce on the upcoming Super Bowl with an assortment of ads and it is not surprising to see Samsung taunting about its recent sweet victory over Apple.

Samsung also pulled the rug from Apple in smartphone consumer satisfaction in the middle of 2014 prior to the release of the iPhone 5s.

However, the overall satisfaction scores for 2014 saw Samsung trailing Apple by points though the companies were close for the majority of the year. Apple took the top spot in J.D. Power’s satisfaction survey for 2014 took the honors of being the leading smartphone brand for all major carriers, but Samsung followed closely at second.

So what this implies? The stats will reveal that some of the consumers are not contented with Apple’s move to plunge into the big-screened phones with its flagship iPhone 6/6Plus. For those who are well-acquainted with the iPhone 5 and 5s, the new devices could have tough to handle literally,

On the other end Samsung took advantage of giving more features with it its flagship Galaxy S5 such as having a water-resistant case, crisp cameras on Android platforms and the list goes on. It appears that Samsung delivered more useful features than its archrival.
