Google’s Android ‘Lollipop’ OS, Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet are set to test the mettle of Apple

Internet search giant Google is attempting to turn the tide on its favor with the launching of its enticing roster of products. Google will be setting a direct all-out war against rival Apple in the lucrative mobile device segment by unveiling its big-screened Nexus phone and souped-up tablet.

Google is aiming at the well-off individuals who have been enthralled and captivated by Apple iPhones and iPads over the years. The company is also on the verge of rolling out its new fangled streaming video and music device named Nexus Player to crowd Apple TV, Roku and among others.

The new product lineup Google has announced last Wednesday is part of Google’s stratagem of broadening its portfolio to keep up with Apple which gained momentum because of the robust sale performance its flagship phones have whipped up for the past several weeks.

The battle between Google and Apple also extends into the mobile operating system software segment where Google’s Android software and Apple’s iOS software are considered to be the best on their category.

The two new Nexus devices will work on a new version of Google’s Android operating system. The company has just released the Android 5.0 Lollipop which is peppered with enhancements, new features and additional security add-ons. Google has the tradition of naming its Android updates after treats and now the company is proud and happy about its new Android 5.0 which is also known as Lollipop.

Google vice president and head of the Android operations, Sundar Pichai quipped, ” Lollipop” or Android 5.0, the upgraded operating system for mobile [phone], is designed to be flexible, to work on all your devices and to be customized for you the way you see fit.”

The Android Website said that with the launching of Lollipop, “The songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from one of your Android devices can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices.”

Google has been generous in offering the different versions of its Android software free, which enabled devices that are driven by the software usually pegged at a cheaper price compared with either iPhone or iPad. This eventually gives rise to more people buying the smartphones and tablets at reasonable prices.

The mobile apps have shifted towards producing products that are well-suited for the iPhone and iPad since the users of these devices in general have more money to spend.

Google is now gunning for the Apple’s high-end patrons with the release of the Nexus line while making its price not beyond the reach of the individuals with low incomes through its innovation program which is dubbed as Android One.

The sleek Nexus 6, sports an almost 6-inch Quad HD display and bigger than the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus that was released by Apple last September.

The Nexus 6 smartphone is the newest and largest mobile device Google has ever produced, and is made by Motorola, which Google purchased two years and is in the stage of selling it to Chinese technology company Lenovo.
