Great news smartphone lovers as Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S smartphone go on sale today on Flipkart. There is quite a hassle though as only 40,000 Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S smartphones units are on offer and so far over 200,000 buyers have registered on Flipkart.
In the most recent sale of 40,000 Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S on Flipkart, the units were sold out in just 4.2 seconds while leaving disappointment on buyers who failed to secure the unit.
The sale is set at 2 p.m. today on Flipkart and those buyers who had registered earlier can only purchase it.
The Chinese mobile maker, Xiaomi is pouncing on the similar flash sale stratagem it used in successfully selling its earlier model Mi3.
In the initial sale of Mi3, Xiaomi is projected to have disposed of a whopping 90,000 units of the smartphone.
The smartphone is fetched at Rs 5,999 and boasts of features such as dual-SIM Redmi 1S features a 4.7-inch display, 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory (expandable up to 64 GB), 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.6-megapixel front camera.
Considered as the “Apple,” equivalent in China, Xiaomi is one of the latest competitors in the robust Indian smartphone market, joining other Chinese companies such as Oppo and Gionee. India is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world. According to IDC data, the smartphone market in India increased by 84% in the second quarter of 2014 to 18.42 million units from 10.02 million units in the same period last year.
