The creator of the addictive game Flappy Bird, Dong Nguyen just unveiled a new game on Apple Inc. and Google Inc. (GOOG) online stores, which is called Swing Copters and the gamers will certainly get elated with this new development.
The new game which promises unending fun, excitement and adventures, allows the new users to tap on their smartphone screen to control the character that is clad with a propeller headpiece. The objective of the game is to help the character to in mid-air and avoid an assortment of hurdles and obstacles. The game almost has the same look and feel as of that of the Flappy Bird, where the users direct the bird to fly in horizontal direction while avoiding series of pipes to pile-up points.
Dong Nguyen rise into online stardom as his novelty game Flappy Bird soared on top of the ranking charts, but only to be removed from various stores, since the game have turned into very addictive. According to experts, the game raked in at least $20,000 to as much as $50,000 at the peak of its popularity.
The Flappy Bird became a global phenomenon even without any marketing to reinforce it. According to App Annie Ltd., an analytics and marketing service said that the game became the top free Apple Inc. (AAPL) iOS app download in 137 countries, and the number 1 free Google Inc. Play download in 33 countries.
Dong Nguyen’s brilliance in coming up with a simple yet crisp gaming app inspired a lot of young Vietnamese technologists and last February, Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology of the Vietnamese just embarked on a five-year, $200 million project to encourage innovations and the creation of new technology companies. The government’s goal is to provide 5,000 science and technology companies by 2020.
