Smartwatches and smartbands are generally expensive devices, but nobody gave Xiaomi the memo. The company is known for rolling out cool products at great prices, and today they announced a new fitness tracker that will only set you back $13.
If you’re expecting a smartband that your friends will drool over, the Mi Band isn’t it. The device doesn’t have a screen, and it won’t let you listen to Pandora or check up on the sports scores. It will track your fitness though, and it’s certainly smarter than your average rubberized wristband.
The Xiaomi Mi Band is a sleep tracker of sorts, and it comes with a sleep-cycle smart alarm to boot. It can keep track of how many steps you take throughout the day, and you won’t have to worry about getting it wet as it carries the IP67 waterproof tag. The smartband’s battery is said to go 30 days on one charge as well which is one of the perks of ditching the display. It can even unlock your smartphone once you pair them up via Bluetooth. Not bad for under $20 bucks.
If you’re in the market to try a smart gadget, you really can’t go wrong with the Xiamoi Mi Band. Unfortunately, the smartband is only available in it’s home country of China at this time, like most of Xiaomi’s devices. You can always pick one up through the usual channels, but we’re hoping to see the Mi Band go global before Christmas rolls around.
