If streaming media is your bag, you’ve probably heard of the Slingbox. A few days ago the new and improved Slingbox M1 was unveiled, and if you’ve been on the fence about picking one up, now’s the time to hop off.
In case you’re out of the loop, the Slingbox is a wonderous little set-top box that hooks up to the cable or satellite setup in your home. It will take the signal and basically ‘sling it’ through the airwaves so you can watch on the device of our choosing – usually a mobile, tablet or laptop. If you love TV, it’s magical, and you can catch up on all your favorites no matter where you are.
The Slingbox M1 is the successor to the Slingbox 350. The new box features dual-band 2.4/5GHz WiFi and has an old-school Ethernet port to boot. The Wi-Fi connectivity makes it a breeze to setup, and you can do so through the Slingplayer PC software or via the Android and iOS app. In addition to the easy to use Slingbox M1, the company also reintroduced the Slingbox 500 as the SlingTV. It’s their premium streaming device, and it’ll set you back $299.
If you’re interested in picking up the Slingbox M1, you won’t have to wait long to do it. The streaming box is available for pre-order now and priced at $149.99 at Bestbuy, Amazon and TigerDirect. You can pick one up in person on July 20th brick-and-mortar shops or through various e-tailers online.
