Microsoft Releases Unlocked Edition of Nokia Lumia 1020

Good news for all those who were anxiously waiting for an unlocked version of Nokia Lumia 1020, Redmond’s tech giant has finally released this pie and its available for shipping. You can now buy Nokia Lumia 1020 through Microsoft. It is available for $549 and supports AT&T or T-mobile.

The unlocked version of Nokia Lumia 1020 popped up on Microsoft’s website on Monday, revealing its cost. It can be activated with the purchased SIM card. It can be operated with two carriers mentioned above. The reason for lesser carrier support is its GSM connectivity. The carriers of CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon are not supported. Also, the phone doesn’t support 4G LTE technology. The obvious advantage of unlocked Nokia Lumia 1020 is the flexibility of switching from one network to another. If you don’t like services of AT&T, you can purchase a SIM card from T-Mobile and activate your phone.

AT&T has exclusively agreed to sell Nokia Lumia 1020. If you are using services of T-Mobile and want to switch your carrier, unlocked version of the phone is a splendid option. The dark side of the picture is that you will have to shell out the full price for buying unlocked version of Nokia Lumia 1020 rather than paying subsidized rates.  You will also be restricted to GSM networks.

The unlocked version of Nokia Lumia 1020 contains the same technical specs as its locked version. The most impressive feature is its 41MP PureView camera accompanied with Carl Zeiss lens.
