Nintendo has announced three new characters for Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS. Captain Falcon, who has been in all four Super Smash Bros games, will be returning for this newest installment. Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem: Awakening, on the other hand, are making their Smash Bros debut.
Both male and female versions of Robin will be playable, using a variety of tomes and the mighty Levin Sword. It looks like Lucina will add to the number of proficient sword-wielding characters in Smash Bros, and Captain Falcon will be reprising his famous Falcon Punch.
Other characters recently added to Super Smash Bros include Pac-Man, one of the oldest video game characters to participate in Super Smash Bros, and Megaman, another gaming classic. Palutena from Kid Icarus: Uprising, the Pokémon Greninja, Little Mac from Punch-Out!!, Rosalina and Luma from Super Mario Galaxy, and the Villager from Animal Crossing will also be playable. Gamers will additionally be able to fight as Miis or the Wii Fit trainer.
To accompany this update, Nintendo has put a new video on YouTube (displayed above) showcasing these three heroes and detailing some of their moves. Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening was given a mention at the end of the video, but will not be a playable character.
Super Smash Bros will be released on Wii U in Holiday 2014 and on 3DS on October 3, 2014. It’s one of Nintendo’s flagship titles and may go a long way in bringing the Wii U and 3DS even more mainstream popularity.
