Sony has done an incredible job with their flagship tablet range ever since they first unveiled the Sony Xperia Z tablet last year. This year, Sony are back with the Xperia Z2 tablet, and it’s finally getting a US release date.
Surprisingly, the Xperia Z2 tablet will be held exclusively on Verizon in the United States, and it will be released later this month on July 17th. If you’re interested in the Z2 tablet, you can visit Verizon and pre-order it today. The tablet can be purchased for $599, or $499 as part of a new two year contract.
The Xperia Z2 tablet will come packed with a 10.1 inch full HD display with a resolution of 1200×1920, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, a decent 8.1 Megapixel rear camera. On the front of the device, there is a 2.2MP camera. The Xperia Z2 tablet also comes with 32GB of internal storage. The device will also support up to 128GB of external storage via micro SD card support.
The Xperia Z2 tablet will also come with a beastly 6,000 mAh battery, and as expected IP55 and IP58 water and dust resistance. Verizon will also sell a range of different accessories alongside the Xperia Z2 tablet launch, including a magnetic charging dock, and a variety of Sony’s SmartBand and SmartWatch devices, which have been confirmed to work alongside the Xperia Z2 tablet.
As expected, the Verizon-bound Xperia Z2 tablet will have full 4G LTE capabilities, and we’ll probably see various mobile data deals in the near future bundled together with the new Sony tablet.
Whether or not the Xperia Z2 tablet will be available on other networks in the future is currently unclear, however for the time being it has been made exclusive to Verizon. The first Xperia 10.1″ tablet was a huge success, and the Xperia Z2 tablet has improved greatly upon the first iteration, so it’s likely the tablet will receive a decent amount of success even if it remains exclusive to Verizon.
