LG announced today that consumers worldwide will be able to purchase the LG G Pad 10.1 inch tablet as of this week. This tablet will be the largest of the G Pad line which is a budget-friendly line of tablets first introduced back in May.
LG explained that the G Pad 10.1 will first be available in the US this week. In the subsequent weeks, the tablet will become available in European, Asian and Latin American markets. LG currently haven’t listed prices for the device, though as a budget tablet, our best guess would be within the $300-$450 given that it is a 10 inch device.
While the price is unknown, LG did reveal the specs for the G Pad 10.1. It features a fairly anemic 1280 X 800 display. Under the hood, the tablet is being powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor along with 8 GB of RAM and an 8,000 mAh battery. The device also comes with 16 GB of storage that is expandable via microSD.
The G Pad 10.1 sports a 5 megapixel back facing camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Finally, the device is operating on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. In terms of form factor, the G Pad 10.1 is 260.9 x 165.9 x 8.9 mm, weighing in at a respectable 523 grams. The tablet will be available in a few colors including white and red.
The tablet will also carry some of the features seen in the recently released LG G3. Many of these features are camera related. The tablet will feature Touch and Shoot which allows users to quickly take photos in rapid succession. The Smart Keyboard which is similar to swipe will also be in the G Pad 10.1 along with the Dual Window multi-tasking functionality which will come in handy for those who like to be productive on their tablet.
Given this device is launching in the US this week, consumers are sure to hear details on the price point of this device and specific release dates over the coming days.
